This privacy notice explains how Jonathan Percale, trading as Percale Psychology ("I", "me", "my"), collects and uses your personal information, and your rights under UK data protection law. I am the data controller for the information you provide.

The information I collect
Depending on our contact, I may hold:
Enquiry information — your name, email address and the brief details of your enquiry.
Contact and identifying details — such as your name, address, telephone number, date of birth and, where relevant, your GP's details.
Health information — the notes and records arising from our therapeutic work together. This is "special category" data and is treated with particular care.
Payment information — records of fees charged and paid. I do not store card details.
Why I collect it, and my lawful basis
I process your personal information in order to provide psychological therapy and to meet my professional and legal obligations. Under UK GDPR, my lawful bases are:
For providing therapy and managing our work together: the processing is necessary for the performance of our contract, and is in our legitimate interests.
For health information specifically: processing is necessary for the provision of health treatment by a health professional bound by a duty of confidentiality (Article 9(2)(h) UK GDPR).
For enquiries: your consent, and my legitimate interest in responding to you.
How I keep your information safe
I take the security of your information seriously. Records are stored [securely and in encrypted form / using reputable, UK- or EU-hosted, GDPR-compliant practice-management software], access is restricted to me, and sessions are conducted over a secure video platform. How long I keep it
I keep clinical records for seven years from the end of our work together, after which they are securely destroyed. Enquiry emails from people who do not go on to become clients are deleted within [12 months].
Who I share it with
I will not share your information without your consent, except where I am required or permitted to by law, or where there is a serious risk to your safety or that of others. In limited circumstances I may need to share information:
with emergency or healthcare services, or your GP, if I am seriously concerned about your safety;
with my clinical supervisor, in anonymised form, as part of the professional supervision psychologists undertake;
where required by law or a court order.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal information I hold about you, to ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, to object to or restrict certain processing, and, in some circumstances, to ask for information to be deleted.
